Hi there. After a thorough rifling through the web for solutions (including these forums), I thought I’d post here.

My issue is a little puzzling, for me at least. When someone comments, it appears without any issues. However, when someone commented recently, through FireFox, the comment appeared in the URL field instead, minus any spaces. It also hit the comment with some kind of character limit and deleted the rest.

The site is here with an example post (so you can see the comment fields) here. Comments work absolutely fine through Chrome. Is there any way to restore a comment that’s vanished into the URL field, and is this an issue specific to FireFox? I’m not a fan of that browser myself, but for those who are, having a long, well-thought-out comment mostly deleted by my own site is a tad irritating.

Many thanks for any tips or solutions whatsoever.

  • Your comments look ok in FF 3.63. I also added a test comment and that worked fine.

Maybe this was some type of hack attempt?

I’d love to think so, but I was actually alerted to the problem on both occasions by people I know personally trying to comment, as it was their comments that were truncated and incorrectly displayed in the Dashboard.

I saw your test comment – worked fine. I’m in contact with the person who had it go wrong most recently, in the off chance that they might have actually just entered their comment in the wrong field – though that seems unlikely considering they’re web-savvy and you’ve managed to find it with the minimum of fuss.

Mystery solved – user error. They chose the URL field over Comment.
