Comment section not appearing under blog post

  • I’m using wordpress through godaddy and have the Hoffman theme. I followed all the directions to enable a comments section under my first post, but I don’t see it. What should I do?

    Also, when I go to the archives section at the bottom of the page and pick my first post, it takes me to an error 404 screen and not back to the post. Godaddy won’t help and said I need to ask WP. Any help would be appreciated.

  • To enable comments on future Pages & Posts, check “Allow people to post comments on new articles” in Settings -> Discussion. Then edit each published Page or Post and check “Allow comments” in each case. If you do not see this pane, click Screen Options at the very top of the page and check “Discussion”.

    All that is checked. At the top of the page it shows “0 Comments.” When you click on that, you get an error 404 page. There’s just no place anywhere on the page that shows the comment box. I have checked all the right boxes and it won;t appear.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    hi, i need desperate help on comments as its not appearing.
    ive tried installing Disqus, and tick ‘allow comments’, even going to screen options and tick discussions.
    i tried all avenues, but didnt work.
    can you please try to look whats going on?
