Comment reply by email and posting simultaneously?

I am looking for a way to simultaneously post a comment reply and email the commenter with the reply. UGH’s comment email responder was perfect and stopped working with 2.7 and some themes in 2.6 . I am using Justin Tadlock’s Hybrid theme (LOVE IT!!) and it does not work with it.

Any help would be appreciated!
