• I am currently using the native wordpress comments system, and simply want to know how to add a “your comment is pending approval” or some similar message after someone submits a comments. I have notice that this does not automatically show after a visitor submits a comments and not showing that just confuses a commenter as to whether their comment went through or not. I’m surprised wordpress didn’t think of this.

    Hi!

This could actually vary by theme. Core does by default and can be seen here and here.

Does it show if you deactivate all your plugins and use a bundled theme like Twenty Sixteen?

I see this is several themes I use and still doesn’t show. Must be a wordpress core error or something.

I even have an twenty ten theme on some sites and that code is in there but still doesn’t show. I have seen other complaints about this too, that ‘Your comment is awaiting moderation.’ is not showing.

Well guess there’s no further help for this. This comment pending message not showing up seems to be an big issue, and it’s really a bigger issue than people might think because is confuses commenters and damages user experience.

    Hello,

Did you find a solution ?

Also, when people comment, if they see the message, but then when you DELETE this comment, they do not see the message, it means that they know that their comment has not been approved, can you confirm ?

    Thanks.

Yes I found a solution. There was a conflict with a cache plugin that was preventing the pending approval message from showing.
