Comment Numbering Incorrect

  • Hi, my blog shows the incorrect number of comments for some of my postings. For instance, I have one posting with no comments, yet it shows “1” for the number of comments. I have another that shows “2” but there is only one.

    What I believe happened is that the counter did not change when a comment was deleted. If this is the case, how do you reset the counter. If this is not the case, any other recommendations?

  • I have the same problem too–the comment count won’t reset properly when I delete comments. If I go into the database to manually reset the comment count for that post, and then get another comment posted, the count goes back up to the old incorrect count.

    Not sure if it’s related, but I’m using Brian’s Threaded Comments–are you using this Jay?

    I’m running WP 2.1.3 and have been encountering the same problem. The counter is reflecting all comments ever made, including spam. The only comment-impacting plugins that I’m running: Spam Karma, Akismet, and Subscribe to Comments.
