I’ve received an email notification for years now whenever a new comment is submitted, whether it needs approval or not.

This past week, I stopped getting emails, but I’m still getting comments. This happened out of nowhere.

I haven’t updated anything, added plugins or changed any settings, nor has my ISP provider. My email address in the control panel is the same on ALL settings. I’ve tried the plugin thing (deactivate/reactivate) and that did nothing.

Any ideas? What would cause WordPress to suddenly stop emailing me?

I have the newest version of WordPress and the only things that need updating are:

    1. Genesis theme
    2. my Simple Share buttons plugin.

I’ll update both now, and see if that does anything.

Ok, all updates and the reinstall are done.

Would you do me a favor and go leave a comment on my site and I’ll see if I get an email? Here’s a random post

I just left a comment, any luck?

No luck. No notification, I see 6 new comments in my Dashboard but not one email all day…… Darn!

@zephyrhillblog I have been playing around with comments on one of my sites over the last day, and i discovered that I had two user accounts, and 1 of them was the author of some of my pages and posts, when those pages were commented on i did not get an email because the notification goes to the page/post author (which in my case ended up being a user account i created ages ago and never used again).

This took me a few minutes to figure out, and i thought hopefully this might be helpful to you, but now as a read over the thread again i can see you most likely don’t have multiple authors because this came out of no where.

To fix this problem for me, i went into the pages section, selected all the pages and did a bulk edit and changed the author to me, now i get notifications for all pages and not just some pages.

on the slim chance this is the problem, i hope this helps.

You’re right, Julian. I just have my one user account, always have.

But guess what? Out of the blue this morning I started getting emails from WordPress for new comments.

Hadn’t changed or done a thing. It’s still a mystery! But I’m glad email notification is back. Maybe it was a WordPress glitch??

Far out that is so strange, quite possibly could have been a WordPress glitch. im glad to hear its all working again ??

I really love the WordPress iphone app for managing comments, i wish it supported custom post types so plugin developers could connect their plugins to the WordPress app through jetpack. that way i could manage wp-events manager from my iphone.

I agree, that would be fantastic!

Will close out this thread, even though I did not figure out the solution to this problem.

Julian, it sure was nice of you to hang in there with me until the end!

    No worries zephyrhillblog ??
