I have a multisite with many active discussions. Unfortunately, about 15% of the comments are going into pending queue. No matter how many times I approve the authors, WordPress insists on stuffing them back into moderation. They are getting frustrated and I am at the end of my rope here.

The problem first appeared while we were running Akismet. I switched to Antispam Bee, and the problem persisted. I tried changing the Discussion settings in every possible configuration. I tried changing Antispam Bee settings. I disabled Wordfence security. The problem persists. I don’t want to force people to register, because I would end up with 4,000 users. Can you please help me fix this?

    Have you tried:
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Seventeen.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

I owe you a drink. It’s wordfence. Thank you.
