Comment moderation is not working

    I’m putting together a site using version 2.8.6 with the “Corporate” theme. I want to approve all comments before they are posted to the site, and on the Settings –> Discussions page, I’ve checked both boxes in the “Before a comment appears” section:

    An administrator must always approve the comment
    and
    Comment author must have a previously approved comment

    However, if I try to leave a test comment on the site – the comments are not being sent to the queue – they just go right up live on the site without being approved.

    Any thoughts on what might be making this happen or what I can do to have all comments be approved before going live?

  • Check the Edit Page or Edit Post panel, the settings for Comments/Trackbacks there overrides sitewide settings re allowing/disallowing comments for specific Page or Post.

    That totally did it. Thanks.

    No this doesn’t work. If you uncheck the box to allow comments on individual posts on the Edit Post page, no one can comment at all. You simply get a message saying that ‘comments are closed’.
