• Under Options >> General
I have ‘Anyone can register’ & ‘Users must be registered and logged in to comment’ ticked.
    Under Options>> Discussions

I have all the 3 settings ticked for “Usual settings for an article.”

And I have “Before a comment appears:
    1. An administrator must approve the comment (regardless of any matches below)
    2. Comment author must fill out name and e-mail
    3. Comment author must have a previously approved comment

I had all three on when a user of level 01 wrote an article. I approved it and it was pasted. The 1st comment by the authour to the article was left to moderation, and i moderated it. The 2nd and third went without modertion due to the settings i had.

But then I unchecked “Comment author must have a previously approved comment” and “Comment author must fill out name and e-mail”. The user can still by pass moderation.

Is there anyway to overcome this?

  • Well, you could set the user back to level 0….

Would the user be able to write new posts after that?

Did you make sure to save the settings after you unchecked the boxes by clicking the ‘update options’ tab at the very bottom of the page?

    Ofcouse! I did that!

NO offense meant, sometimes it’s the obvious we over look. And with trouble shooting, got to start at the beginning.

I understand. Thank you very much.
So, do you think I should change the user level to 0 and then back to 1 again?

Wouldn’t hurt. I’ve no experience with users levels, so I’m just throwing out general trouble shooting ideas.

Upon more clear investigation, I found out the follwings:
Wordpress allows the Author of the Post to to comment, once the post is passed moderation. So, what I really wanted to do is, to have the author’s comments as well moderated by the administrator before appearing on the posts. Is there a way to do that?

So you want to approve someone to post, but then not be able to comment directly on their post?

User A writes a post. It goes for moderation. Administrater moderates it. User A wants to comment to the post. Right now, User A’s comment goes directly to it. But I want User A’s comment to go to moderation as well. Just like any other users.
