• Hey guys I just upgraded my site https://www.chrisjdavis.org to the “bleeding edge beta”, and I am loving alot of the changes. One question though, I am attempting to use the comment moderation, and I am getting the following errors when I attempt to approve a comment:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /Library/WebServer/Documents/blog/wp-admin/wp-moderation.php on line 56
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /Library/WebServer/Documents/blog/wp-admin/wp-moderation.php:56) in /Library/WebServer/Documents/blog/wp-admin/wp-moderation.php on line 80

Not sure if this was not ready for primetime, or if something is borked on my end. I checked the file for any stray carraige returns and found none. I am currently just changing the value in the database manually to approve the comments, so all is not lost.
Just thought I would bring it up. I pulled this from CVS yesterday.

  • Hmm…I just fiddled around with it myself and didn’t get any errors.

How did you get the latest CVS? I suspect you may have gotten a file incorrectly.

Okay guys, just to be safe I pulled from CVS again and I am getting the same errors. To be clearer I am getting this error when I try to approve the comment through the controls under:
    Edit > Comments Awaiting Moderation
Not when I attempt to approve them through the Latest Post section. If I go through the latest post section, and the nclick on # of comments I can approve it there, but not through the section that is devoted solely to comment moderation, allowing you to perform bulk actions.
The file is wp-moderation.php that is borked for me.
wp-post allows me to approve and unaprove.
    Thanks again for the advice.

How do we even set it up so we can moderate comments? In all the settings I saw, I didn’t see the option to allow the admin to approve comments before they get posted to the site.

@debwire: you need to use a current CVS version of wordpress in order to have comment moderation features. Which version do you use?

otaku42: I only downloaded the latest stable version. Good to know that the next revision (beta version) will have this option! Thanks…

Well anyone? I am still having this problem, and I have pulled a couple of times fresh from CVS. The bulk moderation screen still does nothing but bork, and it is a little irritating.

Jesuit, I installed the latest CVS today and can’t duplicate the problems you’re having with bulk moderation.
I did notice something weird though: I’ve got 2 posts for today, both titled ‘test’. Attempting to click on the comments link on either of them doesn’t do anything except bring up the permalink screen, which a) displays both posts and b)does not have the usual ‘post a comment’ section.
This is only true for these particular entries; other (differently named) test posts display normally.

Cena, if you’re going to have multiple posts with the same title in the same day, you should add %post_id% to your permalink structure to differentiate them.

Ah, good to know, although it wasn’t my plan to have ‘real’ posts with the same name. ??

Why does my life always SUCK! Blaarrg! Well thanks anyway guys. I will keep trying to pull from CVS and hope this problem goes away.
    Check in again later folks.

Will the next release will have comment moderation? When is that release going to happen?

    Yes, and before January 1st.

Do a fresh reinstall. save your index.php and wp-config.php files. this might help.
CVS does not change what you have it only updates it. So if you had made any changes or a file got corrupted in some strange way it might leave that problem there.

I don’t know about that…the current CVS has many file changes, not least of which are changes in the file names (from b2 to wp, etc) themselves. Could cause a problem, just sticking everything on top of the old stuff. I don’t know though, seeing as how I don’t actually blog, I just upload new WP files periodically. ??
