Comment hacker, bot or something. Please help.

  • I have just started to get comments from a hacker, bot or something that has a different ip every time but almost always has the website address https://www.bing.com. One other time https://www.google.com. The messages it posts are always the same style. A short sentence with one word that has a spelling mistake.

    Here are a few of the comments I got sent:
    That saves me. Thanks for being so sesnlbie!
    Yup, that’ll do it. You have my aprpeciaiton.
    Never would have thunk I would find this so indsiepnasble.
    All of these articles have saved me a lot of haedchaes.
    I feel staisifed after reading that one.

    If they were related to the pages they were on it wouldn’t matter, but there might be a security problem in 3.2.1.

    The messages are all being sent about 40 minutes apart. Here is a quick copy and paste. But all of the senders details are probably fake.

    I’ve got 13 messages so far and the first one started on the 30th of July at 8:53 pm

    I’ll try that but isn’t there something free in WordPress to get rid of comment spam? I want to run a company to help people study for free, but this company says you have to pay if you are a company.

    Try cookies for comments, and/or bad behavior.

    Akismet is the best, but if you’re running a company, you should be willing to actually pay to get things up and running.

    I added SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam and I’m still getting spam comments what are they doing to send comments? Is there a huge security hole in WordPress 3.2.1? Can you fix it please?

    I’ve just installed Akismet for now but does everyone have this type of problem in WordPress?

    Akismet and SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam are on but the same bot, hacker or what ever is getting through… Any advice besides turning off the comments? Can you tweak the WordPress PHP a bit and release a small update please?

    I have no idea if this would work but here is a new spam free comment system idea: Maybe one PHP file could generate a number based on people having a correct web address along with some other secret number… The comment page then would check the number before sending any messages (Then even if a bot just copied your PHP code the numbers would be wrong…) Well at least until the bots got smarter.

    Glen, stop posting the CONTENT of your spam, please. We don’t need to see it and we do NOT need the IP data ?? you’re spreading spam doing that.

    Block the email, or IP, mark it as spam, and try Bad Behavior and/or Cookies for Comments.

    I just though if someone at WordPress could see the actual spam they could see the pattern and figure out a way to get rid of it. Sorry.

    Does anyone here have any good ideas, to help make WordPress spam free? *Only real solutions or ideas please (no jokes please). I will try “Bad Behavior and/or Cookies for Comments” and tell you if that helps. Maybe that combination of 3 plugins will work… An update to the PHP would also be nice.

    If WordPress used a special number, mathematical equation or something for the comment posting code and changed it every time an update was released it would also slow down the spam coming in. There has to be a way to only let people that type in text on the actual pages send comments. I just want a way to stop the auto generated stuff, bots. I know it is almost impossible to stop people that actually type in stuff and I can live with that just not the auto spam bots.

    Akismet. Cookies for Comments. Bad Behavior.

    You can try captcha, I don’t like them myself. But know this, nothing will get rid of 100% of your spam. It’s a moving target. And WordPress has nothing built in to stop it. That’s the realm of plugins. Akismet is a plugin written by the WP guys, and there’s a reason it’s a plugin. it works better that way.

    Bad Behavior is a good Anti-Spam plugin. I hear a lot of users like Anitspam Bee, but I’ve never used it. Hate to say it, but if you allow users to comment, you’re going to probably get some spam.
