• When update to wordpress 5.1, the “click to show comment form” function is not working.

Tried to debug this, in console it shows:

Uncaught ReferenceError: addComment is not defined
    at HTMLAnchorElement.onclick (VM207 :215)

Maybe a javascript that p2 had included had been changed in new wordpress?
Any idea how to solve this? thank you!

  • Hi there,

Which P2 version are you using? The Classic (https://wordpress.com/theme/p2) or the new one (https://wordpress.com/theme/p2-breathe)?.

Also, can you share your site’s address so I can have a look?

    Thanks Fotis,
I’m using the classic p2, my main site was in private network so i’ve setup a test server to repoduce the error.
    the url is:

    https://119.27.180.212/

    It’s a almost-new test site with p2 classic.
    1cpu 1GB
    nginx1.14
    Php 7.3
    Wordpress 5.1
    With latest p2classic theme installed.

Ideally when you click “reply” on a post in front page, the comment-form will show up without leaveing the page, but when I update to WordPress 5.x this function seems not working, click “reply” will lead you to single post page.

Is there any way to keep the way just like before?

    Hi there,

Thanks for setting up the test site so we can see this in action.

I can replicate this on my end as well, so it looks like there might be a bug with this theme. I’ll report it to our developers for further investigation.

    Thank you @kokkieh
    We love this theme!

I do too. We use P2 for all our internal communication, though we use the newer P2-breathe version.

Consider giving that version a try – it has quite a few features Classic P2 doesn’t have which you might find useful.
