    Hi
Thanks for replying, but I still have the problem.
I’ve tried optimising/repairing the database, changing permalinks, and checked permissions on wp-comments-post.php – I still when I try to do a test comment I get the 404 error. Have tried a couple of browsers.

In the original post, the sentence:
    – which doesn’t exist, so I get
    should be:
    – which does exist, but I get

    Thanks

Try to change permalinks back to default and try if it will help.

    That brings up a 406 Not acceptable r/than a 404 Not found.
I am thinking this problem is probably more to do with SpamFreeWordpress not uninstalling properly rather than a problem with your plugin. I do appreciate your suggestions.
    Thanks

OK, I think I have solved the problem. I was just typing the word “test” into my comment box and getting the 404 Not Found message. If I use a longer comment then it works.
Many thanks for taking the time to help.

I tested your commenting form previously and it didn’t worked.
Now it is working. I suppose you fixed it.

I never heard about such problem. Even if it exist – it is not WordPress core functionality. But if you have no any plugins that can create such comment length limit – so IMHO this problem should not exist.
