Comment form missing/comments not publishing

  • Hi all,

    I updated my wordpress last week to the latest version (automatic updates) and since then have had 5 or so people either unable to see the comment form completely OR they submit a comment but it doesn’t publish. It’s nowhere to be found, not even in the spam folder.
    While some have this problem, the comments work as usual for others!
    Anyone else had this problem? It’s irritating that I can’t figure it out.
    I’ve currently got 6 comments on my latest post but 5 others have been unable to submit their comment.
    I hadn’t had an issue at all until the update a few days ago.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    Yeah I had a read through the forum and tried them both. Unfortunately it’s not ALL readers who try to comment, only about half which in itself is a mystery.
    This is the first problem I’ve ever had with wordpress and it’s a doozy!

    Try to find a common denominator amongst these users. For example, are they all using the same browser? The same browser version? The same OS?

    No they had different OS’s, different browsers and were in different countries.
    So puzzling..
    I’ve tried downgrading WP and upgrading again but same issue.

    Any common time slots?

    Yeah it was all within the span of about two hours on Sunday night (Aussie time) and Friday morning (Aussie time)

    I wonder if there was a heavy server load at that time? Are you on a shared server? Do you have access to error logs?
