• I have wp 3.1 installed

and I noticed that people making comments get the following:

“Error: please enter a valid email address.”
even when entering valid email address.

I have not made any changes to the template for comments
So what could be causing this.
I have read a similar question on the forum, but there was no answer listed.

    Thank you

  • I have not encountered this issue among numerous 3.1 installs so it’s not a 3.1-wide issue.

Try switching to the default Twenty Ten theme and see if you have the same issue. If you don’t have the problem there, then there’s some trouble in your theme. What theme are you using?

    Hi ,

    It is schemermag .
I have pasted the code for you to pastebin
    here to view

    Thanks.

    Have you tried this?

    Hi,

the schemermag style is a magazine style and using the default could “mess up” my page badly,I am afraid.
I think it also may confuse all my readers.

I would rather dissect the code for problems.

    Thanks

If it is theme-specific (i.e. if there’s no issue in Twenty Ten), since schemermag is a commercial theme with its own functionalities and support system, I recommend you contact the theme developer for assistance: https://www.wpthemedesigner.com/support/

You would only do it for 30 seconds – enough to do your test – then switch it back. In any case, please see my above message.

p.s. if you have that many visitors, I always recommend installing a copy of the site on a development server so you can run tests like these there without affecting the live site. Might be something to consider.

    Hi Zoonini,

installing a copy of the site on a development server so you can run tests like these

Do you mean like setting up a test blog ?

Now ,for your suggestion to test the comments on my site,
you think it will work if I:
    1. set theme to default
    2. log out and
    3. try to post a comment

    Thanks,
    I appreciate your help.
