• Is anyone else receiving the error message “You lose! Good day sir!” when people try to comment? I noticed this after a few people tried to comment and said they couldn’t. I use Jetpack to track stats. I disabled Jetpack comments and that seemed to fix the issue until I went to reply on a comment last night and received the same error message.

    I have no idea how to fix. I tried calling Bluehost to see if the issue was on their end (it’s not). Any ideas? I sure will appreciate!

    Thanks y’all!

  • No, I don’t think is Jetpack, it doesn’t look like in the link you sent and if I go to Settings, the comment area by Engagement is not on. So it should be the regular WordPress comments. I have Akismet for spam as well and strangely enough I haven’t had any spam for weeks now, there used to be at least 20 or 30 every day. The only “spam” comments in the spam folder now are from people that are not actually spam but are still classified as such every time they comment.

    Could you share your site URL, then will be able to see what the possible front-end issue might be.

    Hello,

    I’m having the exact same issue. Readers were telling me they were getting a reply that said “You lose! Good day sir!” I thought my Askimet plugin or CommentLuv plugin was maybe the problem. I deleted both of those plugins, but the problem hasn’t gone away. Now when readers try to comment they tell me the message says ’Blocked as suspected bot’ Multiple people have told me they are encountering a problem, and the worst part is I’m running a giveaway. Does anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it? Here is my website Angie The Freckled Rose

    Thank you

    @thefreckledrose

    If you have the “You lose! Good day sir!” comment spam prevention message then you need to update to the current version of the Mojo marketplace plugin.

    @whereix8

    I was able to leave a comment on one of the recent posts fine.

    What active plugins do you have on the site?

    It looks like you are using EasyRecipe.

    Most people are able to leave comments, but I had three persons emailing me and telling me about that suspected bot thing. I am using EasyRecipe and have lots of plugins (probably more than I need): Facebook, Akismet, All in one SEO pack, EZ inlinkz linkup, Google Adsense, Google Analycator, Sitemap, Gourmet ADs,Insert headers and footers, jetpack,Mojo Marketplace, Relevanssi, Search Everything.
    Everything is updated, I always do all updates immediately.

    Update @whereix8: I removed my Mojo Marketplace plugin last night, and I haven’t had any issues with people commenting since!

    That sounds good! Do we need that Mojo Marketplace plugin anyway? It was there from the beginning and I have never thought about it…

    @whereix8

    The Mojo Marketplace plugin prevents malicious login attempts and will have future features to optimize your site for that hosting plan. Also we will be modularizing it soon and you will be able to turn individual peices off if they do not work well with your site.

    OK, so I’ll keep it. Is there anything else I could do about the suspected boot issue?

    I am currently getting the same error message. Numerous of people have commented on my blog posts and are getting the ” Suspected Bot” message. The problem is, they are not spam messages that are getting the “Suspected bot message.

    Is this issue with a plug in? I currently have Jetpack unactive. Thank you.
