Comment box problems
-
I’ve tried several times to fix the issue with comments on my page, and every time I’ve put in about 3-5 hours and finally given up and moved on to other things. The problem is that I’d like to encourage comments by having the comment box appear automatically at the bottom of the post. Instead, it seems that a reader would need to scroll all the way back to the top of the post where it says “Leave a Comment” in tiny gray letters just below the title.
I read dozens of posts by others with similar questions, and tried several of the fixes described to no avail. I used some cut and past html code a while back to try to get the comment box to appear automatically, but was getting odd results where the elements of the page were appearing in the wrong places. I’m not an expert coder, but can usually handle simple cuts and pastes, but either the code was faulty or the directions provided were faulty, or it was designed for an older version than what I”m currently using. I tried getting creative and moving some things around myself, and ended up crashing my whole site, so after reinstall I”m a bit leery of messing around under the hood any further.
If someone clicks on the title of the blog, it redirects to a page specific to that entry, and at that point the comment box shows up automatically. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear automatically on the home page, which is where most visitors land.
