• I’m running 2.7. I have comments allowed, however also requires admin approval.

The problem is that comments are being applied without approval. Would someone kindly explain where I am going wrong.

    Thanks

    Kev

Ok maybe I need to ask my question differently.

I would like to approve all comments, could someone kindly explain how I could do that please?

dashboard -> Settings -> Discussion -> Before a comment appears -> An administrator must always approve the comment

I have that ticked, however comments are stil being made without approval. Does something else have to be done?

Like I said, I have ticked the must be approved box but people are STILL able to comment.

Isn’t there anyone else who has had this problem?

I have the same problem. Some comments are going through without administrator permission, I have the manager set to moderate comments, and they(the ones that get through) are being sent from an email that is not the registered email for comment moderation. Which is very puzzling. The manager is no help and I have looked the code in various files to see if the php can be turned off. so far, no luck.

looking for some suggestions about improving the moderation of comments

    thanks

looks like this is not a random problem

maybe this should go into trouble shooting

yah i have encountered this problem too

Same problem here also, Version 2.7.1

I also have the same problem with Version 2.7.1

I’ve never had this problem with any version of WP, but I have seen a couple of themes that showed unapproved comments.

Remember, the only difference between an approved comment and an unapproved comment is a value in the database. An individual theme could easily show all comments, approved or not, with the wrong value (intentionally or unintentionally) coded in the theme template.

From what i can tell, the approval system is in reverse, EG untick the setting boxes = Approval on and tick = off.

As i had the same problem, and this just worked for me ??
