Comment and comment reply notification questions

    I’m interested in two different types of notifications:
    1) New comment: All administrators AND the comment author receives an email notification.
    2) New comment reply: All administrators AND the comment author receives an email notification.

    I’ve experimented with the settings for both “New Comment / Awaiting Moderation” and “Comment Reply” but haven’t quite gotten the emails I’m looking for.

    Hi @besweeet,
    Thanks for your message.

    1. You can use two notifications to achieve this – one that goes to the Administrators user role, and the other that goes to the author only. You can customise each notification or keep them the same.

    2. As the Comment Reply notification is transactional, it will only go to the original recipient. Details on this notification and how it functions can be found here: https://betternotificationsforwp.com/documentation/notifications/types-of-notification/

    Thanks for the response. I wonder if it’s worthwhile to use a third-party comment system to have better integration of comment notifications. Your plugin is powerful but base WordPress can only get so far, it seems.

    Possibly, yes. I’m unaware of any other WordPress plugins that improve the comments system completely however, a 3rd party SaaS solution might work well for you.
