I wonder if you can help me.

Forms I create using WPForms/WP Mail SMTP Lite/Brevo no longer forward confirmations.

I receive notifications. And a test user receives a notification when I replace the ‘Send To Email Address’ with their email address.

I have tried deactivating/deleting the plugins and reinstalling them, but it has made no difference.

I am using the Astra theme.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Regards,

    Lar

Hey @laralorvan – Thanks for reaching out!

When you get a chance, can you please share a screenshot of the notification settings (form builder > Settings > Notifications) so I can take a closer look? In the meantime, I’d also suggest you to please take a look at the troubleshooting guide and let me know if that helps.

    Kindly,

Prashant, thank you very much for replying.

Here is a screenshot of the Notification settings for one of my forms (I have blanked out the From Name and Email; they are the names of my website and admin email address respectively):

Hey @laralorvan?– Thanks for following up on this ticket!

I seems that you might have missed sharing the screenshot. When you get a chance, can you please check and share the screenshot?

    Kindly,

    (@laralorvan)

Prashant, thanks for being so patient.

I inserted the screenshot as an image, but that didn’t seem to work (obvs!).

I have now added it as a link, below:

    https://littleacorns.online/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/WPForms_Notification_Final.jpg

If this doesn’t work, I imagine it’s because my site is currently in development (behind password access via the My Private Site plugin)?

    Regards,

    Lar

Hey @laralorvan – Thanks for sharing the screenshot, and the notification settings looks fine.

When you get a chance, can you please check the debug events under WP Mail SMTP > Tools, and see if there’s any error message showing?

    Kindly,

    Thread Starter laralorvan

    (@laralorvan)

Prashant, there are four ‘events’ listed under my WP Mail SMTP > Tools > Debug Events tab; all have the Type:

    Error

    and the content:

    Mailer: SendLayer 13: Invalid SenderAPIKey

    Hi @laralorvan,

I’m Ralden, jumping in here for Prashant.

If the alert when you submit a form is “Mailer: SendLayer 13: Invalid SenderAPIKey”, this means that the SendLayer API is incorrect. In case it helps, you can review your settings by following this WP Mail SMTP guide on how to configure the plugin with the SendLayer mailer.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi @laralorvan,

We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Thanks!

Apologies, I’ve been away for a while, so haven’t responded to your email.

I’m still having trouble regarding my notification email – which I copy to the client ({field_id=”1″} as well as myself.

Thus far, I have attempted to send it to three test email addresses without success; I’m guessing it is marked as spam.

(I receive the notification in my admin account, however.)

    Working through this guide:

    https://wpmailsmtp.com/wordpress-emails-going-to-spam/#:~:text=Sometimes%20WordPress%20emails%20go%20to,to%20authenticate%20your%20WordPress%20emails.

I fell at the first hurdle; that is – using the MXToolbox blacklists checker, I found that my URL was on a blacklist.

I contacted my host (Hostgator), and asked them to move me to a different server, as the above guide suggests.

Instead, they claimed that the problem may be due to the local ISP marking my IP as blacklisted, and recommended I use a dynamic IP or a VPN for sending emails.

Reading up on this, I discovered that these suggestions may make my connection unstable.

I’m completely stumped. So far I haven’t sent a single email off-road, so to speak, only to my own test accounts.

Is there a nuclear option: wherein I might revert to zero?

    Regards,

    Lar

    Hi @laralorvan,

Happy new year! And thanks for the screenshots!

When you get a chance, could you please toggle ON the Force From Email? Here’s a screenshot of this option.

If the issue continues, please go to WP Mail SMTP ? Tools ? Debug Events (screenshot), and check if there are events with more details about the issue.

    I hope this helps!

    Happy New Year, Ralden!

    Thanks for replying so speedily.

I set the Force From Email toggle to ON, and sent another email via my website. The event log shows the following:

‘Event #13 Debug An email request was sent.’

As before, I received a notification email, as administrator, but the user didn’t, even as spam – though they were listed in the ‘Send To Email Address’ field, as {field_id=”1″}.

Do you think this may be a Hostgator issue?

    Regards,

    Lar
