    G’day,

    I have a problem.
My client has many different colour variations which are set as attributes (product colour attributes) on the website, but the amount of those is only growing which is already causing a problem to use filter or even visually put them on a webpage.

Can I combine/merge attributes with similar names into one attribute to decrease the amount of visible attributes on the website?

I know I’m not the first one dealing with this problem but I did not find any practical solution for the problem online.

    Hope you can help.

Any solution such as custom code, plugin (free or not free), pretty much anything – is welcomed.

    Thank you in advance

    Hi there,

With colour attributes, the most efficient way to create those would be as Global Attributes which can be re-used on any product. You can create global attributes in WooCommerce from Products > Attributes.

I’ve also included below the documentation for managing Attributes and Variations in WooCommerce which may help too!

    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/managing-product-taxonomies/

The more colours you client has created into variations the more extensive the selection which customers can make is going to be on product pages. As it wouldn’t be possible to combine attributes, the only way to limit those would be to have your client create fewer variations for colours from their created attributes.

To present the variations which have been created from attributes to customers, you could maybe look at the Variation Swatches and Photos extension. This configuration would allow you to create small colour swatch squares for the variations instead of using a dropdown select field which may become quite long for the customer to scroll through.

    I hope this helps.

Thank you @stuartduff for your reply and help!

I’ve done the same way as on your example.
    Products > Attributes: screenshot

I still have the same problem, too many option.
If I get you right, my option is only to ask my client to cut amount of color attributes and that is the only way.

I mean for example this option variation-swatches-and-photos will only organise the layout but will not merge the attributes.

    Correct?

    Hey @sergeiweb,

If I get you right, my option is only to ask my client to cut the amount of color attributes and that is the only way.

The client could either add fewer variations for their colours or manually create new ones which combine colours.

I mean for example this option variation-swatches-and-photos will only organise the layout but will not merge the attributes.

That would be correct as it would only optimize the layout to be small square variations rather than a dropdown selector of variations.

    I hope this helps
