combine grid layout, categories, and description

I purchased WP Links Page Pro in part so I could have the option to have both grid layout and descriptions at the same time. I’m using the code provided for categories (and have text above each grouping), but am unable to using the wp_links_description at the same time without getting duplicates of all links. How can I utilize both simultaneously?
