Combine articles to publish at once: plugin or sub categories?

Hi,

We’re going to use WP for our site, which published music reviews. But instead of publishing one review in a single article at a time, we prefer to publish one large article that includes several reviews. We’ve been doing this for 15 years now for several reasons and would like to know whether it is possible in WP.

We have ‘review issues’ (like a magazine) numbered as YEAR-ISSUE, like 2013-01, 2013-02, etc. It would be great to have that in the URL.

Of course I realize we could copy and paste several reviews into a single article. But with different contributors the editor would have a lot more to do so I hope we can do it differently.

I believe I have two choices: (1) create a new sub category for every issue and link the reviews for that issue to the sub category, or (2) get a plugin.

I’ve read the descriptions of some of the Series plugins, but I don’t think that is going to do it for us.

What would be marvellous is that an article can be found by its title, but the link will always open the issue, so a page with all articles in the review issue.

Any thoughts? Any other ideas? Any tags or plugin names I can look for?
