Columns don’t display side by side

Hello

When I try to create a page with columns in WordPress using the Column shortcodes it creates code which I populate with text. But the columns don’t sit side by side. The second and subsequent columns all start one line down so they look staggered.

This happens if I leave the Column padding at 0 or if I make all sides of padding 2px
