Columnist not displaying properly in .org but fine in .com

  • Hi, when I set up my new wordpress blog yesterday I started out with using wordpress.com and the columnist theme, which I love and want to continue using. After doing a bit of research it was obvious I needed to be on www.remarpro.com so today have registered a new domain name and transferred my initial posts over to the new .org site.

    I tried downloading and unzipping the columnnist theme from its main site and manually uploading the unzipped folder via FTP to the server, and it is displaying wrong as you can see from this screenshot taken from the new site at twirlesque.com

    The most recent post is displaying on the home page instead of snippets of all of the recent posts, and parts of the most recent post are in the left hand sidebar.

    So, I deleted the folder on the server and tried directly uploading the zipped folder to the new blog and it’s still displaying exactly the same.

    This is how the blog should look as displayed at judestwirlblog.wordpress.com

    This has been driving me crazy, I’ve got no idea what’s wrong and I don’t want to bug Ben with the problem as he must get a zillion emails asking for help. Can anyone help?

    The same themes are not always identical versions between .COM and .ORG – so that may be what’s going on here.

    But you DO, for sure, need to redo setting and options on the new site – those won’t carry over with an import.

    Hi Wpyogi, but surely redoing options and settings are just little tweaks, the way this is displaying is totally out of whack.

    Anyway it’s 7pm in the UK on the first hot weekend of the year and I’ve been working non-stop since 5am so I’ll log off now and return tomoz to discuss this further…thanks for your help so far, much appreciated. ??
