Column plugin not working

  • Hi,
    I’m new to this and am a complete novice. I’ve just downloaded zAlive WordPress theme. Looks great by the way. I tried using a plugin: Columns but it only appears to be listing it directly under one another.
    [column-group]
    [column]This is my first column[/column]
    [column]This is my second column[/column]
    [/column-group]
