ColorMag images on front page are transparent / opaque. How can I fix this?

    Could anyone please tell me how to remove the opaque layer over the images on my home page?
    I have added the TG: Featured Cat slider widget to the slider area and the TG: Highlighted posts widget to the area besides the slider.

    The theme demo does not have this (horribly ugly) opaque layer.

    I resolved this issue. The images I used were on white backgrounds. By either using non-white backgrounds for images (so a full-colour pic), or by using coloured frames around white backgrounds, the cropping is not perfect, but I can play around until the featured images render properly on the top of the page and on the front page.
