I have been using the Sparkling child theme for over a year. After updating it today per WP’s suggestion, the entire site disappeared. First it showed just a bare-bones title and white screen, then the site defaulted to the Twenty Seventeen theme.

This message is on my Dashboard regarding Sparkling:

    Broken Themes
The following themes are installed but incomplete.
    Name Description
Sparkling Template is missing. Standalone themes need to have a index.php template file. Child themes need to have a Template header in the style.css stylesheet.

Sparkling was no longer an installed Theme, so I tried to “add new” to reinstall it. Searching Themes for both Sparkling and Colorlib showed zero results –please help!

    Sparking is here:

Download a new copy, unzip locally, and upload to your site via FTP.

    Thanks for replying so quickly!

Unfortunately, when I uploaded via the Dashboard’s Plugin Install I got the following message. If “FTP” installation is different, can you please point me to someplace where I can find more information? I don’t know much about coding. Thank you.

That’s not how I said to install it!

    1) Download the theme.

    2) Unzip the files on your PC.

    3) Connect to your site via FTP, *not* the WP dashboard

    4) Delete the existing “sparkle” directory from wp-content/themes

    5) Upload the entire directory you just unzipped so it creates a new “sparkle” directory in wp-content/themes.

Never mind, I found a tutorial. As I said, I’d never heard of FTP. Thanks for your help.
