    So,if I could do nested rows I feel like I could avoid this, but if you look at the link, what I would consider row 2 in the context of this row is actually part of row 1 so when I do alternate colors it looks weird.

    I hope that makes sense.

    Also, no idea why the datatable functionality doesn’t work when enabled.

    thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

    I see what you mean, but this simply is how merged cells work in browsers ?? To get an alternating row colors effect, you would now need to create it manually (e.g. with https://tablepress.org/faq/change-background-color-of-a-row/ ).

    Regarding the DataTables no longer working: The reason for that simply is that this external JS library does not support tables with combined cells. It requires a perfectly rectangular table (same number of cells in every row).
