Color variation dropdown not showing as list

    I’m following these instructions:

    However, when you get to the part about adding attributes, the example it shows with the color attributes is not what I see. I have followed the instructions exactly, however when I try to add my colors into the field, they end up as one long string of words in the resulting dropdown. I’ve tried comma separation and hitting return. My version does not show “add new” “select all” “select none.”

    It says “enter some text, or some attributes by “I” separating values.” What does that mean?

    How do I get this to work?

    @allegrojane There are two separate sets of instructions in that link. One is to add global attributes (available for all products), the other one is to add custom attributes per product. You seem to be mixing the two.

    The options to Select all and Select none only appear if you are adding global attributes to your product, which you have created previously from Products > Attributes > Add New.

    When you are adding custom attributes directly in the product, they need to be separated by a vertical pipe, which is this character: |.

    You said you are trying to separate values with a comma, and this is incorrect. Values separated with a comma will not be recognized as different items. Refer to the instructions on that document, and you’ll see there’s an example of how to separate values: Small | Medium | Large.

    The vertical pipe is what separates them, not a comma.

    Thank you! Why I wasn’t reading the custom section, I do not know. It works now.

    However, while I have your attention ?? the colors are also showing up in the Additional Information section below the product images. Is there a way to get rid of that?

    You’ll want to deselect this checkbox for your attribute setup:

    If that is deselected, it won’t show up in the “Additional Information” tab.
