Just wrap with the word Expired with a html tag and a css class (for example <span class=”expired”>Expired:</span> at row 95 of simple-expiration-plugin-php. Then add you class to your theme stylesheet. It is not perfect because the html is part of the string but it works. The author’s plugin could do this tiny implementation.
