    Hi,

Firstly, thank you for great free plugin.

My page design is that I will have considerable content above and below the text to expand. As such, the content to expand/collapse will be somewhere in the middle of the page. I will show an excerpt of the content with a ‘read more’ prompt to expand. The expanded content will in most cases fill the view-able area so that the target will likely be off the screen. The prompt to collapse the text will be at the bottom of the expanded text. The wanted behavior is that when the user clicks the prompt to collapse the text, then they will be returned to the target.

Reading the documentation, I found the best fit was “A roll-your-own example that places the trigger below the target”.

My issue is that when I click the prompt to collapse the text, the target is not being brought back into the view-able area. Rather, the page content is being pushed up, resulting in some of the content being skipped-over (missed by the viewer).

I’ve tried numerous examples from the documentation but no success. As such, I’ve now simplified the page content and returned the code to be same as “A roll-your-own example that places the trigger below the target”. I’ve included a link to the page for you to review.

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Regards,
    Sean

Ok, what you need to do is keep the expand/collapse trigger at the TOP of the expanding content. This is the anchor that is used to scroll back to on close. You would then insert a second trigger at the end of the hidden content that the user can use to collapse the text.
And example of this can be seen here:

Check out the R2D2 Wiki example at the bottom of that post.

Thanks for the reference to the R2D2 Wiki example. Got it working which a few modifications to make the content inline. I’ll provide CSS for others once I’m happy with the outcome.

So seems the R2D2 Wiki example at collapse scrolls the page so the expand trigger is displayed at the very top of the page. This was working fine, but then when I re-instated the ad banner at top of page then the expand trigger is hidden under the banner. I see that same issue with the Close-n-Scroll Auto example on the Plugin Oven documentation page. When the content is collapsed the expand trigger is hidden under the top menu bar.

How to configure the scroll to top of a container instead of the very top of the page?

I’ve tried to incorporate a close-on-scroll with offset-scroll winthin the R2D2 Wiki example without success. But it would be better solution if the scroll to top could be limited to a container.

ok, what you are looking for is a scroll-offset, used for things like sticky nav menus and, as in your case, ad banners. The scroll-offset is a feature included with Collapse-Pro-Matic, so you might want to consider upgrading. It also comes with a very high level of personal support, so we will assist you in getting it working exactly as you need.

With single-site license, am I able to initially use that license on my staging site (effectively a sub-domain for testing), then apply to my main site?

That depends on your work flow. Normally the licence would only be activated on on the site that updates are tested on. The other (live) site would simply be a mirror of the staging/dev/testing site, but w/o the licence active.

Sorry, I’m still not clear on the licensing.

Does the license get associated/committed to a site? Or is there a license key that I need to apply which can only be used on one site at a time? (I hope the latter)

Let’s say I apply a Collapse-O-Matic license on one of my sites (e.g. mysite.com). If for some reason I no longer wanted/needed Collapse-O-Matic Pro on mysite.com, can I remove the license from mysite.com then apply on myothersite.com?

    Thanks

Yes, a single license key is applied to one site at a time. You can always log into your account and manage which site is registered. This can also be done from the registration section of the plugin.

Licensing is clear now, thanks. Should be OK for my needs.

I’ve actually got the scroll-offset to work for the sticky ad-banner by patching the plugin. But I’m still likely to purchase a license for the main site so I can get continual updates. So all my current queries on this subject are answered now. Thank you for your support.
