Codex Plugins That Disappear

    I understand that the plugins submitted to the codex are not reviewed for safety (like themes). So, why are occasional plugins listed one day and gone the next. Do WordPress “moderators” remove them?

    No plugins are submitted to the Codex, they are submitted to the plugin repository though. You are correct that there aren’t as many checks on plugins as there are with themes.

    Some plugins have been removed for various reasons in the past, and this is dealt with by [email protected]

    One more question: If someone downloads a plugin, finds it’s been removed from the repository, they won’t find an explanation for the removal when it’s removed by someone other than the plugin author?

    PS: If I inquire to [email protected], they would explain the removal?

    Yes, they would be able to tell you why they were removed.
