code works on localhost – white screen on production site

  • I’ve been researching how to show posts in a category alphabetically from my main menu, instead of chronologically. I found a solution on a 6 month old thread that works perfectly on my localhost. It’s exactly what I have been looking for. The problem is, when I use the same code on my production site I get the white screen.

    I’ve deactivated all my plugins. I have identical functions.php file on my localhost and production site. Using child theme, Twenty Twelve. I would appreciate some suggestions about what to look at to make it work. My live site is in ‘Maintenance Mode’ at the moment. I disabled it earlier, but I’m running it again.

    Curious if you ever resolved this as I have the same or similar issue in reverse – white screen on localhost, fine on production site. Duplicated plugins, and in fact duplicated everything as far as I can see with Duplicator plugin. However removed plugins on localhost and no whitescreen – everything working again. For me the issue is not working out which plugins are causing the issue, its about how to unify the behaviour. Preferably for the moment so that localhost bypasses issues as presumably production is doing.

    Apologies if this caused you a problem Esmi. I realise that the version is old but as this seems likely to be an environment problem rather than a WP problem I have doubts that the version will be relevant and I had hoped the OP might be able to throw me a bone.

    Also as I am sure you are also aware visitors to this forum do not re-read the welcome message every time they visit and unfortunately mere mortals do not realise they have forgotten some of the detail of what they read earlier. But I promise I will try to keep it up there in the grey matter for the next visit.
