code view and <p> tags

  • I’ve noticed that <p> tags are not included in the Code View or in the text sent to the database, but when the post is published and displayed the <p> are included.

    Does anybody know what WordPress does to re-instate the <p> tags?

    I want to grab posts directly from the database to use in another site but its just feedin the raw text without the <p> tags. All other formatting is preserved.
