    Hi
i just put my website online (for the first time) after i worked a bit on activated the SEO and google analytics.
Maybe i did mistakes cause, now, my code UA-XXXXXXXX-X is written and shown to everebody on top of my website!
    i don’t know why?
Do you confirm me it’s a big deal?
    what can i do?

(i just activated the work-in progress mode [plugin] so that my website is not available anymore)

Do i have to delete it from the Header? i did this so that google can authentificate it.

    Waiting for your answers, please!
(sorry for the mystakes, i’m french)
    Thanks!

HOW did you add your GA code to your site? Did you put it in an SEO plugin? Or did you add it to header.php?

There are several GA plugins that will take care of adding your code to every page. They shouldn’t be displaying the code. If you have used a GA/SEO plugin and this is happening, your best bet is to post in the support forum of that particular plugin (Go to the directory page for that plugin, then click on the “Support” tab).

Google does not use your Analytics code to verify a site – you go to Webmaster Tools and you can download and then upload a file to your site, or add a single line (a meta tag) to your header to verify it.

It sounds to me like you pasted the google code into the wrong place….as Bet asked, post back exactly how you added your GA code, then we may be able to help.

Hi guys and thank you for your help

    I didn’t use a plugin,
i just went to “apparence” > “editor”

i did a mistake cause i pasted ONLY the code “UA-XXXXXXXX-X” and not the whole code with all the lines that is beetwen “script”
Now i did that and it’s OK we can’t see anymore the code
    did i do right now?

But, do you confirm me it’s enough to paste this code in “apparence”>”editor” or do i need to add this code in each page (i don’t know how to do that).

    thanks!

You can confirm that the code is connected to GA by logging into your Google Analytics account, going to the reporting page, and in the left sidebar, you should see an option for “Real-Time”. Click on this, and then on overview under it. Then, go visit your site, then come back to this overview page, and you should see that it’s tracking your visit, which will be slowly moving toward the left.
