• The code editor in the Write>Pages area removes some of my html markup tags when I hit the save button.

For example, I had a <div id=”contact”> with a closing </div> at bottom and the editor removed it and put the id=”contact” into the next <p> tag. Then I removed the id=”contact” from the <p> tage and then the editor removed the <p> tag when I hit the save button?

I wanted the markup for purposes of adding css for the content presented in my database Pages.

Can you tell me what is causing this? Thanks.

  • it seems to delete every <br> i write in my post

AFAIK, WP only does this in visual edit mode. I gave up on it and switched to the raw code editor – which doesn’t remove markup. It HAS been the subject of numerous complaints, but the powers at be seem to think that this is not a problem and tells everyone not to use the visual editor. If that is the answer, a question might be “then why HAVE a visual editor in the first place?”
