Code appears in widget

    I use a widget to show latest posts on the homepage of a website, but if the post includes a gallery slideshow, bits of code get included in the news feed. See the Latest News bottom left of https://www.herefordmarket.co.uk to see. The code currently showing is:

    “From M/s ****** – Limousin/Limousin x heifers with Limousin x calves. ” order_by=”sortorder” order_direction=”ASC” returns=”included” maximum_entity_count=”500″]…..Read Full News Story

    I expect you’ll tell me to ask the widget authors and I will do so, but in case you can help I wanted to ask the same question here.

    hi, @dutchpuzzle!

    We’re aware of the shortcode showing up in blog excerpts. We’re looking into how we can help avoid that from happening. For now, if you go back to your blog post to edit and underneath the text edit box is an option to add a custom excerpt. If you add in the text you want to show in your blog summary, you can keep the shortcode from showing up that way ??

    Yes that helps thank you, the code has gone, but with a new problem of text being duplicated:

    I added “See slideshow.” to the excerpt which removed the unwanted code, but an unwanted bit of duplicated text then appears after ‘see slideshow’: “Read more Entry of cows/heifers & calves from one farm – 21st June” It’s not the end of the world, but it would be better without the extra bit. I’d like it to read:

    “Entry of cows/heifers & calves from one farm – 21st June
    See slideshow ?…..Read Full News Story ? ”
