I’m interested in the Pro version features so I did all that you said to update to the most recent free version first. Sadly, if I activate this most recent version, it breaks the entire WordPress site. When deactivated the Glossary page contains NO glossary information.

WHILE CM TOOLTIP GLOSSARY IS DEACTIVATED and PHP debug is on
    1. Screen is blank except for the page title. The following debug message appears:

“Notice: wp_register_script was called incorrectly. Scripts and styles should not be registered or enqueued until the wp_enqueue_scripts, admin_enqueue_scripts, or init hooks. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 3.3.) in /hermes/bosoraweb013/b123/*******/public_html/cms/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2959 Notice: wp_register_style was called incorrectly. Scripts and styles should not be registered or enqueued until the wp_enqueue_scripts, admin_enqueue_scripts, or init hooks. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 3.3.) in /hermes/bosoraweb013/b123/*****/public_html/cms/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2959”

WHILE CM TOOLTIP GLOSSARY IS ACTIVATED

    1. The screen is blank on almost all WP pages and posts except for Title when PHP debug is off.
    2. Debug Message while trying to activate and PHP debug in effect.

“Notice: has_cap was called with an argument that is deprecated since version 2.0! Usage of user levels by plugins and themes is deprecated. Use roles and capabilities instead. in /hermes/bosoraweb013/b123/*****/public_html/cms/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2923”

I deactivated ALL of the plugins and reactivated one by one to see which one(s) were causing the conflicts. The winner? CM Tooltip Glossary!! This plugin seriously scrambles an otherwise fully functioning site. I don’t have confidence that the Pro version will do any better.

    Hello @Mountian Dude,

We are very sorry that you’re experiencing problems.

According to the messages, it seems that something went wrong with the upgrade, because the wp_register_script function is not called in the latest version at all.

Here’s a list of important questions which will let us troubleshoot your problem:

    1) What WordPress versions are you using?
    2) What was the previous version of CM Tooltip Glossary you were using?
    3) Do the notices show up, when you deactivate all of the plugins and try to activate the latest 2.6.7 version of CM Tooltip Glossary?

Thanks so much for your help. I think this plugin is really fantastic and I’m amazed at the usefulness of what it does and how it does it. Given the complexity of what it does I’m not surprised that sometimes things go wrong. In our case….really wrong. This is such as shame because our guests LOVE having this functionality at their fingertips.

    In answer to your questions:

    1. We’re using WP 3.5.1
    2. We’ve tried to revert to our previous version 2.2.3 but the problems still exist.
    3. Yes debug notices indicate these problems. Again, we’ve reinstalled 2.2.3 and 2.6.7 is no longer on our system. Whenever we’ve activated either version there is no information showing on the glossary page or any of the term definition pages. Our troubleshooting efforts are not at a high enough level to fix this ourselves and the back and forth exchange of a blog support page doesn’t match the pace required of businesses engaged in 21st century activity.

We’ve released the bugfix release 2.6.8 today.

The suggested course of action to fix the bugs:

    1) Update the WordPress to the latest version (3.8.1).
    2) Deactivate and then remove all the old versions (both 2.2.3 and 2.6.7) of CM Tooltip Glossary from the /plugins directory
    3) Install the newest 2.6.8 version either through the Dashboard or FTP

We strongly encourage to update both the plugin since we’re constantly working on making CM Tooltip Glossary better by fixing the bugs, solving conflicts and adding new features.

If for some reason you can’t or don’t want to upgrade the WordPress, please try the steps 2-3 only. However we strongly encourage to use the latest stable WordPress version.
