• I know that I’m supposed to upload the plugin files to:

    wp-content/plugins directory

but I can’t get there. I’ve always just used explorer for ftp because it’s fast and easy. Do I need to get FileZilla/CuteFTP or something just to do this?

    Any help is appreciated.

  • yes.

Internet explorer is NOT an ftp client, its a browser. ??

    Explorer is not IE ??

But, I’ll agree that it’s best to download an actual FTP program. Explorer tends to timeout more than anything else I’ve seen. It also doesn’t support the more secure protocols for file movement.

To clear the air, I know IE and Explorer (the new IE browser brings your ftp to WinExplorer for easy click and drag) aren’t ftp clients, but you CAN use them as such to a certain extent. I’ve been doing it for years.

I just happen to be very new (and dumb) with WP. I can’t locate the folder to install the plugin files. I use 1and1.com as my host. I just figured I’d ask around here before calling customer service.

    Thanks again!

If you don’t have a wp-content/plugins directory in your WordPress installation, then you installed it incorrectly.

Crap. I didn’t have to install it because 1and1 set it up. I just have to call them.

    Thanks for the response.
