Cloudflare WordPress Plugin 4.0 – Deprecating php ver <7.2

  • Cloudflare is removing support for PHP versions before 7.2 in the next Cloudflare plugin – version 4.0.0. Since this will affect customers using old PHP versions we are bumping the major version number to signify this is a breaking change.

    This allows us to more easily support the plugin going forward.

    The new version is marked as requiring PHP 7.2+ which should keep WordPress from automatically updating if you use use deprecated PHP versions.

    The plugin metadata here is still showing that it supports PHP version 7.2.

    Does it support WordPress 5.6?

    I have a pending update available to 5.6 on my hosting provider but I don’t see that this plugin is compatible yet.

    we are still supporting php 7.2 even though it technically just was EOL’d recently.

    Looks like we need to bump the tested version number too. We have done some tests with 5.6 and haven’t found any issues thus far, but I need to check if our automated testing is using 5.6 yet. We have found that it is very rare that a WP minor version update affects our plugin although it is possible.

    Thanks for clarifying, and apologies for misreading the initial statement. There is no more support for versions before 7.2.

    Then what is written makes perfect sense.

    We have done some tests with 5.6 and haven’t found any issues thus far

    I’m looking forward to having this confirmed so that my hosting provider can go ahead with the update.

    We updated the tested version today in plugin v4.1.0 though there is no real functional change from v4.0.0

    I see it now. Thanks so much for staying up to date!
