CloudFlare APO – does it work with W3TC? Any more benefits?

    Hello,

    I have a concern about few of my clients have CloudFlare Pro package which includes CloudFlare WordPress APO to “turn on”.

    I am also using W3 Total Cache and it’s CloudFlare exstension.

    I wonder, do I need to setup something specifically or no, due to the:

    Also, the W3TC is listed below the title “Plugins and Services Reported by the Community to Cause Issues with APO”.

    On the other hand, from the articles above I really do not see which more benefits would my clients get from already “having them all”:
    a) CloudFlare Pro Package (Mirage, Polish, WebP image format, HTTP/2, HTTP/3, RTT-0, Minify HTML/CSS/JS, Rocket Loader, TCP Turbo, AMP Real URL, Brotli compress …)
    b) W3TC configured under Nginx – LEMP stack
    c) WordPress theme has “prefetch” and “preconnect” and “preload” stuff in <head> already, Google AMP for posts enabled
    d) regarding the setup of Page Cache (Disk Enhanced), Databse (Memcached), Object (Redis) and Browser cache for static files (html, css, js, images …) with “Cache Everything” page rule added under the “CloudFlare Page Rules”
    e) with PHP OPCode Cache enabled (PHP-FPM, 7.3)
    f) on a dedicated server? (6c/12t, 64GB DDR4, 2x NVMe 512G RAID-1, 1Gbps, 20TB/mo)

    Or am I missing something “written between the rows” specifically as a “benefit” from CloudFlare APO for WordPress as stated above?

    Maybe the “cache invalidation” or “bypass” by Cookie? – not needed for now, but, hm .. maybe would be usefull for WooCommerce, if so?

    Thank you for your inquiry and I am happy to assist you with this.
    Not sure why the plugin is listed as we have not received any reports about the incompatibility and also I was unable to find any issues reported in the Cloudflare support forum. However, if you are using the Cloudflare plugin then you should enable the extension in W3 Total Cache and vice versa.
    W3 Total Cache does not have the APO activation in the extension.
    However, you can enable it in the Cloudflare Dashboard and still use the W3 Total Cache extension.
    We have a website optimized with W3 Total Cache with the Pro Cloudflare Package and we are facing no issues.
    Have you experienced any issues with APO and W3 Total Cache or is this a general inquiry?

    That is true.
    Me too, have not found any issues or topics regarding that.

    I have to admit I have not yet tested the W3TC with the “APO enalbed” in the CloudFlare Dashboard.

    Will try it out in the CloudFlare dashboard “enabled” and see what it happens with the tutorial written on CloudFlare website.

    Will write back if I find out any issues in that combination, if so.

    Nevertheless, thanks for great caching plugin!
