maybe something in your theme, try to temporarily switch theme to a default WordPress one just to confirm if it’s working.

Yes it should definitely work like that, but it is not, at least on my website. That kind of ruins the browsing experience on mobile.

I’m using a theme called ‘Spectra’ from Rascals https://themeforest.net/item/spectra-wordpress-music-events-theme/10141585

What can I do?

Do what I suggested above, to confirm if the problem is coming from the theme.

I am having the same problem and also even on your Demo page it is not working, neither the navigation itself, nor close on click. I tested it on my Iphone on Safari and Firefox and on Browser Emulations on Desktop, but no success.
