Close comments and refresh page

I have placed a button in the loop for displaying comments so that each comment has a button associated with it. When the author clicks it, I want to close the comments, refresh the page (so they show as closed), and then mark that specific comment as winner (by changing a bit in the database).

I cannot figure out how to close the comments via php for the specific post. I’m also not sure if i have it set up correctly to fire the function.
