Elementor stores some of its data in flat files, which NS Cloner ignores. Is there an extension or pro add-on that I can buy that will take care of cloning and search/replacing those as well? For example, when I clone a subsite that uses Elementor, the background images do not get cloned and re-linked.

    Hi @puns0steel

Yes, with Cloner’s Pro version you can utilize the Custom Search and Replace feature while cloning… https://neversettle.it/buy/wordpress-plugins/ns-cloner-pro/

    Cheers!

@puns0steel We revisited this and realized that our previously answer here was incorrect — the Custom Search and Replace feature doesn’t include flat file replacements as you described. Currently there’s no add-on available for that.

However, we have seen the NS Cloner be used successfully with Elementor before as typically the files are only cached representations of what’s stored in the database and can be refreshed. Have you tried using the Regenerate Files button in the Elementor Tools? https://prnt.sc/1r2jcgb

@neversettle Really appreciate the follow-up. I have tried that, but not all the steps in conjunction. I’ll install the Pro version to use the search and replace on clone, then try the Regenerate Files. Can you try it on your end, too, to see if we get the same results?

Related, if the site is behind a sitewide .htaccess username/password, does NS Cloner have any issues? Especially concerned about copying media. They didn’t copy over last time I tried.

Yes we’ve tested both embedded images and image backgrounds in the latest Elementor version and they both cloned successfully, but it was a fairly simple test page / site, not a full blown production site or using any other Elementor extensions beyond the free core plugin.

For your question on username/password, yes that could be an issue and we have a doc article on the solution here: https://neversettle.it/documentation/ns-cloner/cloning-on-a-password-protected-site/

Thank you! I’ll let you know how it goes on a full production site with a lot of customizations.
