    Hi,

Thank you for your plugin, we have found it very useful for testing plugin updates and changes to our website.

We are having one issue which I wondered if you would be able to point us in the right direction with.

We have and issue where and email is being automatically generated by our website and we don’t want it but we can’t find what is creating the email so we created a staging site using your plugin to see if we could find the problem. We deleted the Contact Form 7 plugin from our site and then re-installed it and this solved the problem on the staging site. However, when we replicated this on the live site it didn’t solve the problem.

So I was wondering how a clone of the live site could behave differently than the live site?

    Hi,

the only main difference is that the staging site sets the CACHE constant in wp-config.php to false.

What kind of mail is it you want to get rid of?

Honestly said I can hardly believe that reinstalling the contact form 7 plugin fixed your issue and that this was the reason. I would suspect that it was a coincidence or that you changed something else?!?

    Hi Rene,

Thank you for replying so quickly.

The email is an automatic email that a customer receives then they download something from our website but before they can get the download they have to fill in the contact 7 form. On the staging site I deactivated the Contact 7 plugin then deleted it. I then installed it again and created the contact forms again and this time it didn’t send the automatic email.

I then duplicated this exactly on the live site and the email is still being sent. I have just tested it again and it is still okay, yet on the live site the email is still being sent.

I was wondering if there is something that is not cloned in your plugin which could explain this.

    Thanks,

    Rob

So, the automatic mail is sent by contact form 7?

Please also try to activate the permalinks on the staging site:
    https://wp-staging.com/docs/activate-permalinks-staging-site/

This could be another possible reason.

    Hi Rene,

Thank you for the information. You were correct, the reason that the email wasn’t being sent from the cloned site was because of the permalink settings on the clone site.

We changed those settings and now the email is being sent by the cloned site too.

We have managed to find out what was generating the email though so the issue has been sorted out.

Thank you very much for you help, have a great day.

    Robert
