• I have created a local website on my Mac and am about to show it off to a propective client.
Whilst I have learnt what it takes to take a Theme and turn it into a website I cannot find the answer re what to tell the client about raising posts to maintain the content of the site.

It is not a blog it a an Auto Dealer website where posts are used to display cars for sale.

The client will need to add/amend/delete posts relating to his stock of cars.

Where do I start? Do I just raise new Users on the site and give them update priveledges. Should I expect to manage the site for them? What is the norm?

Any feedback would be most welcome.
    thx

  • It totally depends on you and the client – people do all kinds of variations on how a site is managed. There really is no “norm.” In general, they’d need to know how to modify the site – there is lots of good general info in the Codex –

As to site specific help, you set up the site/theme, so you’d probably need to instruct them on anything unique to the site.

    Thanks that helps me.
One more question though, do you know if there are methods for updating content for sites in bulk.

Lets say that I want to generate 50 posts, is there a batch update method I can use?

OK I think I have found one answer in that there are plugins out there for importing from CSV and the like.

I was hoping for something a little less IT intensive as this creates more work for me and more cost to the client.

Ideally I need an input form that can be submitted as a batch if necessary. If these exist can you point me in the right direction?
