Client Login Section

Hello,

I am looking for a way to write a basic client access section for my WordPress site.

Basic functions would be login and be re-directed to a specified page. If it could be cookie + session-specific, all the better.

If anyone could direct me as to where to look for instruction or possible scripts to help me develop this, that would be greatly appreciated.
