I have a new client that I’m helping with an existing site. It’s self hosted and I’ve been making updates logging in to sitename.com/wp-admin. But I just found out that when they go in to post, they log in to https://wordpress.com/stats/insights/www.sitename.com. It works and I can see the posts in the normal backend, etc. but why is it set up like this? Any reason they should or shouldn’t keep doing it this way? I googled around but can’t find any info.

    thanks

I googled around but can’t find any info.

Look into Calypso, it was released last year [link] [link].

It’s WordPress admin re-written in Node.js. Users on self-host WordPress sites can take advantage of it via Jetpack.

It’s generally a much better experience than the default way.
