I have a new client who has a site built on dreamweaver which has an extensive collection of tech spec documents which are accessed by their members for downloading etc. I want to move them to WordPress but want to know if there is a way to build the site in WordPress to give them a more dynamic modern front end whilst keeping the library of documents managed through the dreamweaver architecture, I’d prefer to use an effective plug in to manage this portion of the site( suggestions welcome) but there is one staff member who runs the site currently who is adamant that he wants his dreamweaver comfort blanket to manage these documents.

Eventually we all need to grow out of our comfort blankets!

There are several good document management plugins for WordPress. Perhaps if you demonstrated one of them in action, the client would be convinced.

If you chose a plugin that uploaded docs to a specific folder rather than just lump everything in wp-content/uploads, that would help because they could all be downloaded at once by FTP if necessary.

Thanks Jason, any advise or recommendations on document management plug ins.? Also, if he digs his heals in, do you know a way to work across both platforms ?

    Hello,
I’m late to this conversation, but why can’t your client just edit stuff in Dreamweaver and FTP his changes to WordPress.

Even if you “re-create” these pages in WordPress, the client can still use Dreamweaver to edit the files.

I do feel like I’m missing part of your question….
